Climate change dries Mali’s Lake Faguibine, displaces population
Climate change is transforming Mali’s Lake Faguibine into a desert in the Timbuktu region.
The UN says more than 300 000 people have been displaced in the region.
Usable land for farming is becoming scarce, causing violent disputes between farmers and livestock herders.
In areas of Mali in which the state is largely absent, armed groups - including al-Qaeda - control access to arable land and water, giving it only to those who join their ranks.
Al Jazeera’s Nicolas Haque reports.

Climate change, armed groups threaten fish farming in central Mali
To address falling stocks challenges, authorities are promoting fish farms. That's now accounting for about 10% of the delta's production. Modibo Traoré, who spent 30 years fishing the river, has taken this route.

Niger River and Mali - What are the seasons like? How's the weather?
@Flightstoafrica
Mali is a landlocked country. The Niger River passes across the center of the nation. Agriculture is the most essential sector of the economy. I explained about Timbuktu which use to be a trading and learning hub. Talked about Sudanese architecture. Mali's architecture is a separate subset of the traditional Sudano-Sahelian architecture of West Africa. Talked about the climate and seasons of Mali. What religion is followed by the people of Mali?
